Has Passed Away |

The Le Mans veteran and international gentleman driver has succumbed to cancer, five days after his 57th birthday.
Henri Pescarolo went to see his old friend a few days ago (just before the unveiling of his Pescarolo Sport Le Mans project for this year), and was deeply upset to find that Jean-Louis was so ill. The end came all too soon.
Ricci raced at Le Mans 12 times, finishing his career last year in the Perspective Racing 911 GT3R, along with his son Romano and Thierry Perrier. His best finish was sixth (1989 and 1992), the first of these in a Joest Porsche with Pescarolo and another long lost friend, Claude Ballot-Lena.
He was a very wealthy man thanks to the Ricci name, but he was a Le Mans contender from the old school, a man who loved getting out there and racing every June. At least his dream of competing with his son came true.
Sympathies are extended to his family and many friends.
