The March 1 edition of Autosport names Mark Blundell as the sixth driver for the Chamberlain-run MG project. He may well have been hanging on for the last Bentley drive, but Martin Brundle allegedly had the first choice for that seat, so Blundell plumped for the MG, recreating his Nissan Le Mans partnership (1989 – 90) with Julian Bailey.
Bailey, Blundell and Anthony Reid are the senior drivers at MG, with Warren Hughes, Kevin McGarrity and Jonny Kane making their Le Mans debuts this year.
The official announcement that Blundell has signed for MG may now follow, or may have to wait until the end of March.
