The Quaife is packed away yesterday, as the snow and sleet comes down.
Mike himself was delighted to be back after an 18 month enforced lay-off – he had nowhere to run the car. “We’re very pleased with the car on smaller restrictors (it last ran as a GT1). We’ve leaned it off to give us the economy to run for an hour, and we’re still pleased with the power. It’s great to be back! We’ve had problems with clutch and brake seals as it hasn’t run for so long.”
Partner Philip Hopkins took the car away in the Hopkins Motorsport transporter, and is planning an intensive testing period. “We’ll get some serious miles on it. There’s nothing wrong with the car, but I’m struggling with the brakes- there’s too much travel. We’ll change the pedals, the clutch, the discs....give us two weeks and we’ll be testing.”
