Thetford / Norcold Dyson Racing were at Homestead on Monday and Tuesday to shake down their new Mklll C prior to its debut in the 12 Hours at Sebring. James Weaver, Elliott Forbes-Robinson and Butch Leitzinger were all present.
Pat Smith and his crew worked late into the night on Sunday preparing the car, but first running on Monday morning was with the Mklll, to set a benchmark time. A systems check with the C was finally completed late on Monday. First running on Tuesday saw attention to some “driver comfort issues” before Weaver got down to “satisfactory times” within the first few laps.
He commented that the car "feels much better (than the Mklll) on old tires. It's a step in the right direction."
"We're looking forward to running the car next weekend (at Sebring)," team owner Rob Dyson said. "So far things look pretty encouraging, but we need to keep running the car to evaluate its strengths and how we can make it better. Thankfully, the basic package is the same as the car we've been running. It is an evolution of the Mklll, and we think it's an improvement."
