David Legangneux has been catching up with the local newspapers in the Le Mans region.
There will be no factory Courage this year, according to Ouest-France. Time has run out to prepare an entry properly.
Eric Bernard, Emmanuel Collard, Wayne Taylor & Max Angelleli will drive the modified DAMS Cadillacs at Le Mans, almost certainly with Christophe Tinseau & Marc Goossens. After Le Mans, these two cars will go to US to run in the ALMS with the US team.
The DAMS Corvette programme for this year seems to be in doubt. Apparently a new car for the French team couldn't be delivered before August, by which time most of the season would already be over. So J.P.Driot has remarked that it would be more reasonable to wait until 2002. DAMS has scheduled to run a complete European programme with two Cadillacs and a Corvette.
François Migault may take part in his 24th 24hrs this summer. An entry has been submitted by Manthey Racing for him, Kersten Jodexis & Gustil Spreng, in a Porsche GT3-R. Last year this team's Porsche was refused permission to take to the track, just before the Test Day began. François Migault was already working with this team last year, but not at the wheel.
Michel Ferté has apparently submitted two entries for Lotus Elises in GTP, according to Le Maine Libre. He completed a test session last June, after the 24hrs, on the Bugatti track. He was indicating then that he would enter some ALMS races, but that was the last that was heard of this effort - until now.
