Paolo Ruberti has joined CiBiEmme Engineering team to drive a BMW 320is in the FIA European Super Production Championship, alongside Gianni Morbidelli and Stefano Gabellini. Ruberti competed in the FIA Formula 3000 Championship in 1998 with Prema Powerteam, and in 1999 with Durango Formula.
Carly Motors will run two BMW 320is this year. Carly Motors have won three Dutch Touring Car championships, with Duncan Huisman in 1997 and 2000, and with Cor Euser in 1999. Per-Gunnar Andersson and Duncan Huisman will be driving for them in 2001.
Per-Gunnar Andersson drove in the DTM in the 1980s with one of the fearsome Volvo 240 Turbos. He was victorious twice in the 1985 DTM. He was the Swedish Touring Car Champion four times (1987, 1989, 1991 and 1992). Duncan Huisman won the 1997 and 2000 Dutch Touring Car Championships and the 1997 Euro Final at Zandvoort in the team’s Super Production BMW.
Norman Simon has joined Ravaglia Motorsport to drive alongside Peter Kox. Simon has set F3000 and ALMS races alight during the past two seasons, but now seems to be turning his back on single seaters and sportscars for the SPC BMW drive.
