David Legangneux link and Marc Laffeas have been seeking out the Le Mans news throughout the winter. Thanks both of you.
David met Michel Ferté last Friday and asked him about his Lotus project for this year's Le Mans.
Ferté is waiting for the release of the official entry list before going ahead with his project. One of the two Elises is the one which he drove last May [not June, after the race, I made a mistake...] on the Bugatti Circuit during a private testing session. The goal of this session was to test a new electronic device for the engine. While the cars were 'a little in the shadow', there was still some development of the engine by an Italian engine maker who has worked with Ferrari. Since then the electronics of the engine have again been reviewed, with another management system to be tested soon.
The existing engines have been tested on the test bed, with a 'new' 2.8 liter engine also being developed.
The cars are owned by Franco Meiners, who is part of the project. Entry in ELMS races are scheduled, then a race in US and in Malaysia at the end of the year.
Regarding the Le Mans entry list, David makes it clear that the 'official rumour' is that the list will not now be available until 'early April'.
All is really fuzzy here in Le Mans actually...
.......brilliantly described David.
The Wimille Grandstand is in the process of being torn down. The demolition of the Singher-Durand tribune was also scheduled, but I've heard some rumours that it can't be done.
