The Interactive Sportscar Championship has announced a three-year contract with Granada Television. Granada will be televising all 12 ISC events, starting in May.
The ISC and Granada are apparently treating year one as a development year to sample different forms of interactivity and enhance television viewing. It is their intention that all events from 2002 onwards will be live, or as near live where possible.
The ISC is in separate negotiations with the Granada programme “Men and Motors” and ONdigital for live coverage and packaged content.
“This is a major television package for motor sports in the UK and IMH and Granada will be working together during the course of the year to provide a world class motorsport TV production,” commented Dominic Chappell.
“Plans are well advanced for Meridian to show selected races live, in addition to the highlights programmes that will be transmitted across much of the country on Tuesday evenings,” said Tony Baines, Controller of Sport, Meridian Broadcasting Limited.
