Deadlines have passed and no statements have been made. The VW group are apparently insisting that outside sponsorship is sought to back the project, which is the likely cause of all the delay.<BR> <BR> The design is thought to be a prototype, which would bring Bentley face to face with Audi. What a story this will be – if it happens. The car has been tested at VW’s high speed test track and Stéphane Ortelli is contracted to carry out development work. Richard Lloyd’s team have apparently come to the end of their agreement to run Audis in the Speedvision series, and are considered as favourites to run the Bentleys.<BR> <BR> A decision – yes or no – is thought to be imminent. If it does get the go ahead, what engine will it use? That gets into the subject of a couple of unusual designs which have been mentioned on this site.
