A recluse for most of the Silverstone meeting, the Colin Blower prepared Ultima, complete with 6.3 litre Chevy V8, was wheeled to the Powertour 'tent' on Sunday where it instantly became the star attraction. Despite a valiant effort by all at Colin Blower Motorsport, there were too many niggling problems to allow the car to run. The sponsors' logos were still being applied to the car as race-goers sought a peek of the beautifully finished item.
Colin Blower said: "Its a shame that we worked so hard for the first race and won't be able to run, but we still need to work on the suspension geometry, engine mapping, gearbox set-up and wiring installations and sort out a number of other trivial problems. The engine has been running, but the car will do its first laps next week - we will be up and running for Snetterton.'
The car looked fast standing still, and will surely retain the fans' respect when it hits the track in a week and a half. |
