Aston Martin DB7 |
For Later In The Season |
|
Aston Engineering have confirmed that their stunning Aston Martin DB7 should be seen at later rounds of the Privilege Championship. The car is currently competing in the Aston Martin Owners Club race meetings but is being updated and developed to GTO class specifications. This will involve a gearbox change as the current drive-train incorporates a sequential shifter. The front and rear panels will also require replacement as they were intended for the GT2 regulations - showing the length of time this car has been in development. The suspension also requires uprating as the current set-up involves rather compromised homologated parts.
Work continues on a new 3.2 litre engine - the target being 500bhp. Aston Engineering will need to achieve this figure as a minimum - the Curtis Hayles GTO Viper puts out a claimed 600bhp and weighs the same.
Ronnie Farmer is confirmed as one of the drivers, the second driver - as required under the Privilege rules - is yet to be decided.
