After a weekend like the four day one just passed - ELMS / Privilege GTs / Touring Cars and FIA GTs - there's an increased risk of mistakes creeping in. The TMS team at Snetterton fought manfully against the odds, but through a series of circumstances, the precise reason for Bobby Verdon-Roe losing a few laps off the circuit didn't become apparent until Bobby himself set the record straight this afternoon:
"I didn't actually go off at the Bombhole or visit any gravel traps. What happened was, I went into the Esses a wee bit quick and figured I might spin if I tried to fully negotiate the corner. A small short cut across the grass past the apex seemed like a good option, which under normal circumstances would lose you a couple of seconds, tops. However a part of the floor decided to dig in to a mole hill or something, with the result that the car started digging an increasingly deep trench! Short of hitting a tyre wall, I have never decelerated so fast in my life! But instead of the nose digging in, the car ended up in launch mode with the nose two feet in the air as it sat on its freshly dug mound of earth! Anyone got a picture? (Yes, see a later news item today). Anyway, when towed backwards the offending floor came off, the car seemed OK and the engine started, so off I went again and we managed to salvage 4th in class, so we are still in the Championship hunt. Roll on Donners, but please not so much rain this time."
