Jimmy Fraser, crew chief with Robinson Racing, explains that, "we left the new car home (the R&S MklllC). We only received it last Wednesday. We haven't had it for a week. We tested at Phoenix a few weeks ago with the old car and we ran pretty good. Our testing times were better than our speeds here last year. We are going to test the new car May 8th at Mid-Ohio and shoot to make it the main car by Watkins Glen.
"We will probably sell the old car after the season because it would be too expensive to run a two car team."
"We've got a new airbox on the Mklll. The lump behind the driver's head is gone. It is just a flat deck now. That gets rid of some drag and makes the air to the rear wing a lot cleaner."
Robinson Racing have no plans to run the ALMS at all this season. Fraser said he would rather put the money into wind tunnel testing to refine the IIIC for a possible assault on an Audi-free ALMS in 2002.
But will he find an Audi-free ALMS in 2002? Probably not. So Audi do frighten away the privateers.
Robinson Racing won at Phoenix last year, after borrowing a Judd V10 from Doran Lista Racing.
