That Lister Scrap |

"Jules and I had identical set-ups and cars and we have similar driving styles, so we knew we had the chance of a good race between us, but Laurence (Pearce) said that if we do anything silly, or end up in a gravel trap, 'KEEP WALKING!'"
That was Jamie Campbell-Walter's view pre-race at Magny Cours, the first stint of which which turned out to be "my most enjoyable ever in a Lister. Jules and I were racing flat out. He knows that I'm going for the Championship, so there was more pressure on me, but the racing was hard and close. We had a little touch at the Adelaide Hairpin, and I felt him moving over just a little, to take the racing line. It was just a kiss. I had the 50 kg, so I couldn't brake quite as late as him.
"A few laps earlier, he missed a gear coming out of the Hairpin, and I nearly rammed him. He sensibly kept going straight, because he didn't know which way I would go round him. There were about two feet between us. Laurence wouldn't have liked contact there......"
So, great racing between the Listers at Magny Cours. Unfortunately, the photograph is a Monza one - of Tom Coronel. |
