When the Konrad Saleen set a 1:28 dead at Donington Park's ELMS event, you might have thought that a Lister would struggle to compete with that. Not so.
The Spanish GT Championship is the only venue for a Lister / Saleen confrontation, and in today's Qualifying for the first round of the series at Jarama, with both cars on the same (control) rubber, the Lister Storm of Miguel de Castro and Balba Camino (last year’s Spanish Champions) set the best time, just over a tenth faster than the Saleen of Carlos Palau / Alberto Castello. The times were set by the lead drivers (de Castro and Palau), because that's how it works; the afternoon session is set aside for the number twos.
Also featuring on the Spanish grid are Wolfgang Kaufmann in a 911 GT2, Dominique Dupuy in a Viper and Ni Amorim in another Porsche. It's a good field.
