The Panoz Motorsports Group today announced two separate series, the American Le Mans Series, and the European Le Mans Series for 2001. Each will have its own points and champions, but the two series share five races: Sebring, an April 14 race in Europe at a site yet to be announced, Jarama, the Petit Le Mans, and Adelaide. It was indicated that NO race in Britain will be on the schedule as a result of F1 changes.
In making the announcement, Don Panoz spoke of increasing crowds at every venue on a year-to-year basis, and a new committment by Humpy Wheeler to "supporting the Charlotte race with all of his resources."
