This man was the fastest one on the track at the end of the Silverstone FIA GT event. He was chasing down Sebastiaan Bleekemolen in the Carsport Holland Viper, and although the two were locked together with three laps left, the Dutchman raised his pace just enough to hang onto second place. Kumpen was in trouble with soaring oil temperature though. "Rather than risk losing a podium, I decided to stay behind and get a finish and some points," he explained.
His impressive form throughout the weekend, and in the first three rounds - "I have now taken two third places on the grid and one Pole Position" - has ensured a new partner from Zolder onwards. He'll partner Didier Defourny. "It will be a pleasure to team up with Didier. I have had some good races with Claude-Yves (Gosselin) and Emmanuel Clerico (in Brno)....and I think that my new partner will only make me improve quicker."
Zolder this weekend is five minutes away from Anthony's home, and he won the 24 hours on this circuit last year, with Marc Duez. "I'm looking forward to building upon the Silverstone success." |
