Saleen are expected to debut the S7 at Laguna Seca. This will be their big media event, and will kick off their new racing activities. The street car will be on display, and at least one race version will be on track. There is a possibility that there will be two cars running, but that depends upon how testing goes. The car is due back from testing in (at Pembrey in Wales) any day now.
Johnson and Borcheller will continue driving, along with some major announcements of new drivers. Tommy Kendall?
They should be running the full ALMS schedule next season, along with a 2 car effort at Le Mans. The engine in the S7 is a "tall" small block Ford stroked to 427 cubic inches (7 liter). Teams are 'sniffing around' the new car, but there is nobody close to actually committing yet.
In the Speedvision Cup event, there should be 3-5 Mustangs running, with Tim Allen driving for this race. They have had to put out to pasture the Grand Am GTO Championship winning car, which actually dates back to their Le Mans effort in '97. It is tired and been made obsolete by the S7. |
