Ian Dawson at Ascari has signed Scott Maxwell (above) as the sixth driver in the A410s next month. "He's a very talented guy, I know him, he knows the Le Mans track, he's a good team player - he was a natural choice." The Canadian is also a class winner at the 24 Hours, of course.
So the six drivers are team owner Klaas Zwart, Patrick Lemarie, Harri Toivonen, the regular drivers Ben Collins and Werner Lupberger, plus Scott Maxwell. The partnerships for the race haven't quite been settled yet.
Work is well advanced in preparing the pair of cars for the middle of June marathon. The 'full roll hoop' car is currently being converted to a single hoop, "because the tub was designed for it and we did see a difference in top speed between the two at the Test Day," explains Ian Dawson. "We're also having new engine covers made, which will reduce the drag a little more, while OZ wheels will save some weight. It's all part of upgrading the cars. New wiring looms are also part of that process."
Complete, spare rear ends are also being built up for both cars. "We feel we'll have enough pace at the race, but we're really concentrating on getting the cars home after 24 hours."
Unigraphic Solutions appeared on the race car at Spa just over a week ago, while two other sponsors will be announced shortly.
