It isn't the whole Porsche story in the ISC yet, but in an unusually worded press release, the Interactive Sportscar Championship has confirmed that Phil Hindley's Tech 9 will be running Ashley Ward and Jonathan Rowland in a twin turbo Porsche 996. Tech 9 will be running a second 996 twin turbo for drivers who will be named shortly.
Rowland and Ward have switched from the second factory Cerbera Speed 12 in the Privilege Championship, where the release indicates that they have been unhappy with 'reliability problems with the TVR Speed 12 and a very poor GT field.'
The release goes on to claim that the 'rival British GT championship's GT class looks in jeopardy of becoming a farce with only three competitive entries'.
Phil Hindley (above) describes Ward and Rowland as "a strong driver pairing and (they) will be competitive in the GT2 Porsche." Dominic Chappell believes that "the Porsche team will be a front running competitor to look out for throughout the season."
Phil Hindley himself began the year in a Cor Euser owner Marcos Mantara (in the Privilege GT Championship), partnering Ian McKellar. That liaison went sour at Donington Park. The same circuit sees the first round of the ISC on June 3. Up to 18 entries are expected, although a number of cars have yet to have both drivers named.
After these remarks by the ISC, there is likely to be an even frostier relationship between that organisation and the Privilege Championship organisers.
