Snetterton Testing |
|
TotalMotorSport's man in Norfolk has been following progress with the EX257.
Julian Bailey completed most of the laps at Snetterton yesterday, and the single car is thought to have covered over 120 laps with no sign of mechanical maladies at all. This was believed to be Bailey's first experience of the car. Mark Blundell hopped in towards the end, and was unofficially clocked at a faster time than Bentley managed on this circuit. Perhaps a lighter MG is more suited to Snett. than a 900 kg Prototype, and roles will inevitably be reversed next month, but the signs point to real progress with the smaller British challenger. Blundell was seen to be trying very hard.
Spa next week is thought to be the last stop on the testing agenda, with almost the whole driving squad present.
It's official now: "I am particularly pleased," commented Frank Dernie. "The fastest lap time we recorded at Snetterton was 58.2 seconds on race tyres. ...we are now concentrating our efforts on the car's reliability and fuel economy."
