Make what you will of this. BMP has released details of the changes to the PowerTour package for the remainder of the 2001 season.
- With immediate effect, Roger Etcell has stepped down from his position of Series Director and the day-today running of the series is now being handled by John Taylor.
- The on-track content will remain unchanged for the rest of 2001. Thereafter, the PowerTour name will be dropped to enable BMP to concentrate on promoting the British F3 and GT championships.
- All current elements of the package - British F, GT, TVR Tuscans, Formula Ford, Porsche Cup and Ford Fiestas - will remain together.
- The television deals with Channel 4 and Sky Sports will continue as planned, with MSC (Motor Sports Consortium) as producer.
- The marketing programme which was in place has been discontinued. Other than Autosport coverage, marketing has now been passed to individual circuits.
- The full-page colour advert in Autosport to promote the next round of the series will continue up to and including round 7 (Castle Combe). It will also include round 10 (Knockhill).
- Cloverleaf's PR coverage of the British F3 and GT championships will continue. It will also continue to provide programmes. Radio coverage by Talking Point (Patrick Russell) has been discontinued.
- At rounds 5, 6, 7 & 10, the entertainment package previously employed (open paddock, pit-lane walkabout, autograph sessions, track & air displays, grid girls, bands, end of the day podium and PowerTour village etc) will continue with the same timetable.
- At rounds 8, 9, 11, 12 & 13 (Brands, Donington, Thruxton, Brands, Silverstone), the above package will be at the discretion of the venue.
- Round 13 will no longer be a night race. It will revert to a normal two-day meeting on September 29/30.
- The "Ones to Watch" promotion will be discontinued after Croft.
- PowerTour radio is to continue.
- The use of the PowerTour website is to continue.
- The PowerTour hospitality centre will continue.
- The use of the PowerTour name will continue until the end of 2001.
