This is the David Terrien / Jonathan Cochet / Jean-Philippe Dayraut Chrysler Viper GTS-R, entered by the Equipe de France FFSA.
The FFSA has taken over the La Filière project to promote young driving talent in France, and Jacques Régis, President of the FFSA, explains that, “From karting onwards, we want to concentrate on two fronts: single-seaters and closed-top cars. In this latter category, an entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans already represents a certain level of competition. We are placing our brightest hopes in a position where they can demonstrate their abilities in an international context, and have the best opportunities of getting places in official teams.”
David Terrien is in charge of the operation. "Jacques Régis explained that he had convinced Hugues de Chaunac to prepare a Chrysler Viper, and that he wanted a driver with a certain amount of Le Mans experience to complete an FFSA line-up with two newcomers. I was full of enthusiasm for the idea."
Jean-Philippe Dayraut was the 1999 Formula France winner, who then moved to Supertouring last year. F3 Champion Jonathan Cochet also welcomed an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in another area of the sport.
This is the first time in motorsport that a sporting federation has entered a car in its own name in an event of this importance. With the car prepared by Oreca, it looks set for a very strong performance.
