David Legangneux indicates that Auto Hebdo are suggesting that there were two different Mopar engines on use at the Le Mans Test Day at the Magny-Cours test session - obviously different by the sound. The usual engine has the... usual sound of a US V8 engine and the other one has a "higher rpm sound", like the difference between a V8 and a V10, but the 'other' Mopar is still a V8. This is the engine that had a failure at the Test Day.
There is no hint of an official explanation about the difference. Laughing, de Chaunac has expressed the view that "it's a V10!". More seriously, an engineer has suggested in Auto Hebdo that it's due to "new exhausts", but saying that with a 'malicious smile'...
Or is it related to the plane of the crank. This is only speculation, of course...
