Ricardo Vehicle Engineering are looking hard at the options to increase the availability of their technology and race preparation facilities to sportscar racing customers.
Ricardo's infrastructure will enable race teams to operate from within the special vehicle facilities at its Shoreham base.
Two examples of Ricardo expertise are on display at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours:
Ricardo supplies the much vaunted 'quick change' Audi transmission, which was widely credited with underpinning the Joest team's steamroller display last year, and is also involved with the preparation of the successful PK Sport Porsche 911GT3-RS car, both at LM and in the 2001 ELMS.
Ricardo has applied its engineering prowess to developing a modular front-end 'cooling pack' for the Porsche GT3-R and GT3-RS, to improve thermal and aerodynamic efficiency. Another benefit of the Ricardo pack could be particularly useful to the PK Sport car this week. Its quick change or 'rapid damage replacement synthesis' capability could give this team a real edge on its GT class competitors in an area which has proved to be vulnerable to racing damage on other GT3-RS cars.
