We're still catching up after Le Mans here, so this item should have been released on June 15.
Team bosses from five teams contesting the Privilege Insurance British GT Championship have been nominated to represent the views of teams within the newly formed GT Association (GTA).
Following consultation with all the teams at the recent Rockingham round, a teams' council has been formed comprising Mike Jordan (Team Eurotech), Martin Short (Rollcentre Racing), Hugh Chamberlain (Hayles Racing), Paul Robe (Parr Motorsport) and Chris Pollard (Eclipse Motorsport). Jordan will continue to act as spokesman for the GTA for the time being.
"The GTA is working closely with the promoters and organisers for the good of the British GT Championship," says Jordan. "To date, the dialogue has been very constructive and several key changes have been made for the direct benefit of the championship. We look forward to that positive dialogue continuing as plans for the 2002 season are formulated."
Over the coming months, it is expected that the team's council will discuss a range of topics with both British Motorsport Promoters Ltd and the BRDC, championship organisers. "We will be looking ahead to the 2002 season on a number of fronts," continued Jordan. "By bringing together team bosses from a cross-section of teams, our aim is to promote the needs of teams, drivers and sponsors, and put on racing that will thrill the crowds and make excellent television. Every one of the teams has invested heavily in GT racing, and we want to see the championship go from strength to strength."
