CT Motorsport Fields Formula V6 Team

CT Motorsport announces that it will field a two car team in the Formula V6 Asia series by Renault. This new series will operate as part of the Asian Festival of Speed (AFOS) which is owned and operated by Motorsport Asia, Limited based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Renault is providing a 100,000 euro cash purse, 50,000 1st, 30,000 2nd and 20,000 3rd for the top three teams at the series end and a World Series by Renault test for each of the top three drivers. Additionally the AFOS series is marketed widely including live and delayed television broadcasts that have a potential viewing audience of 1.5 billion in addition to print media coverage. Two Formula Renault veterans, Tim Barber winner of the first championship series in North America, and Ken Lee, veteran of the 2005 Formula TR 2000 Pro Championship series, will be the drivers in the series for CT Motorsport.

The series consists of 12 races conducted over 6 weekends:
Rounds 1 & 2 May 14 Sepang International Circuit
Rounds 3 & 4 June 25 Sepang International Circuit
Rounds 5 & 6 July 23 Indonesia's Sentul Circuit
Rounds 7 & 8 Aug 13 China's Zhuhai Circuit
Round 9 & 10 Sep 10 China's Zhuhai Circuit
Round 11 & 12 Oct 22 Taiwan's Taichung Circuit

The qualifying format for the series echo's the current F1 format with one 45 min qualifying session on Saturday which will be divided into three 15 min sessions, each with a 5 min interval. The first 15 min session will determine the last 4 grid places for the sprint race of each event. The second 15 min session will determine the 4 grid places in front of the cars from session 1. The last 15 min session will determine the pole position and the remaining places on the grid in front of the drivers from session 1 and 2.

The races will be similar to the A1GP format with the first race on Sunday being a rolling start 30 minute race. The finishing positions from this race become the starting grid for the feature race which will be a standing start 45 minute race. Both races award points equally for the series. Renault launched the Formula Renault career ladder concept in 1971 and has continued to support and develop it throughout the world.

CT Motorsport is proud to be the only North American team who can offer the entire ladder series, Formula Renault 1600 and 2000 with it's cars located in California running in the Formula TR series and now with Formula V6 cars located in Asia and running with AFOS and its Formula V6 series.
