Bosch Extends Deal With Championship |
Extra Three Years For DTM |
|
Bosch has extended its sponsorship of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) for another three years, up to and including the year 2006. At the same time, Bosch subsidiary, Blaupunkt, has confirmed its endorsement in this important Europe wide motor sports series for the next year.
Wolfgang Chur, member of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH said: "Our cooperation with the DTM will continue and far exceed a mere sponsorship. All vehicles in the series have on board highly sophisticated racing technology from Bosch."
As in previous years, all DTM racing cars – AMG-Mercedes CLK, Opel Astra V8 Coupé as well as Abt Audi TT-R – are equipped with Bosch Engine Management. A number of other Bosch products are also installed in the DTM racing cars, including sensors, injection valves, spark plugs, cockpit display instruments, starters and alternators.
Various parameters can be individually set with Bosch motor sports control units. Powerful evaluation tools provide analysis of lap data, allowing the race team engineers to compare results from different settings. In turn, this permits a quicker and targeted tuning of engine and vehicle.
Bosch Engine Management offers quick, efficient computing power thanks to a multi computer concept – handling calculations at the eight-cylinder engine’s high speed. The touring car Motronic unit is solidly encased, making it extremely resistant to excessive vibrations and temperatures.
Bosch’s engineering success in motor sports extends beyond the DTM series. In the last three years the winning car at the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race has used gasoline direct injection systems from Bosch – Bentley in 2003, Audi in 2002 and 2001. Almost all Formula 3 racing teams worldwide are equipped with Bosch engine management as well as data collection.
